“The will of Jonathan Crosby of Yarmouth, N. S., dated 11 July 1781, is of interest in several ways. It was written during the Revolutionary War and the testator could not have known whether or not some of his sons were alive. As a matter of fact, son Jonathan had died in Mansfield, Ct., in 1778. Son Benjamin was still living in Mansfield, Ct., John was in Lee, Mass., and Abijah was at sea. The will proves that the various children, born at Harwich, Mass., and at Coventry, Norwich and Mansfield, Ct., were all born to this Jonathan and Hannah by listing all of them together as “Jonathan Crosby of Yarmouth, Queens County, N. S., sons Benjamin, Jonathan, John, Ebenezer, Lemuel, Abijah, and Huckings, and daughter Rebecca” (Yarmouth, N. S. Probate 1:230; J. R. Campbell, A History of Yarmouth, N. S.
